Comment:
I am the one fishing with Gary on this video. I had little experience with a fly rod before this trip. I fished for trout with worms and spinners back home. Gary was a very patient teacher. He took me to very remote areas where the fish are not as "educated". He showed me the "educated" monster browns that wouldn't bite under the bridges and next to the roads. We walked for many miles to find the best areas and it was well worth it. The water was crystal clear and we saw many many trout, not all were feeding, but when they were, if I couldn't catch them, Gary could. His casting was like poetry in motion. We had good time laughing about how our US and NZ accents occasionally kept us from understanding each other. I took his advice for Salmon fishing later in the trip with my wife and daughters at Lake Tekapo and caught salmon for supper three nights in a row. I would recommend Gary as a guide for anyone.
