Save our Rivers

New Zealand's wild rivers, freshwater fisheries and tourism are threatened by daming for power generation, irrigation and by environmental destruction.

Water Conservation Orders (WCOs) which are provided for in the Resource Management Act (RMA) are slow and expensive to obtain. We need to be vigilant and support the efforts of other groups and individuals to save our rivers.

You can become a supporter of wild rivers at the Wild Rivers website. This initiative is supported by 8 conservation and outdoor recreation groups including the New Zealand Federation of Freshwater Anglers and Fish and Game New Zealand.
