Northland Fishing Regulations, 2016-2017

The following is our understanding of the regulations that apply to trout and salmon fishing in Northland from 1 October 2016 to 30 September 2017.  Where general rules do not apply, lakes and rivers are listed in alphabetical order for quick reference.

The information presented here is not meant to be taken as a complete statement of the law. Please refer to the North Island regulations booklet supplied with your fishing licence or view an online booklet at the Fish & Game New Zealand website.

Tench or perch: no limit

Perch and tench: No limit.

Artificial fly and spinner.
Fishing for perch and tench (coarse fishing) is permitted.
Bait fishing is permitted only when fishing for tench in the Waitangi River.
