Fishing options

  • Multi day guided fishing trips where several waters can be fished.
  • Heli-fishing where you can access very remote waters

  • Flyfishing for sea-run brown trout and kahawai in the lower reaches of the larger rivers
  • Winter fishing in rivers that remain open all year
  • A mixture of fly and spin fishing
Saltwater flyfishing

Anton has also discovered a very unique saltwater fly fishing fishery on his doorstep in Golden Bay where he resides.

He found that Yellowtail Kingfish can be caught flats style wade fishing on the huge intertidal flats that Golden Bay is famous for. This has got to be one of the biggest discoveries in fly fishing in New Zealand.

These fish range in size between 60cm and 110cm. They can weight up to 40lbs! Most fish are around 70cm and weight 15lb. 8 to 10 weight rods are used in conjunction with baitfish patterns. The fly is stripped in quickly to mimic the fleeing bait. The take is super aggressive and will leave you shaking!

Anton with Kingfish

The target species The Kingfish is a strong and dogged fighter often not giving in for long periods of time. They will run you a long way into your backing.  The peak season to target Kingfish is Mid January until Mid March. The best way to plan a trip for Kingfish is to Book Anton for 4 - 6 days and target both backcountry trout and kingfish on the flats. This way Anton can use his knowledge of winds and weather patterns to decide the best days to target each species.
