nzfishing.com news: June
Taupo fishery improving
After a summer of tough
fishing which caused some serious concern as to the long term health
of the Taupo Fishery, DoC has reported that it has rebounded significantly
in recent months. Large schools of smelt have been monitored by
Doc staff and the fish are in much better condition and numbers
than in previous years. Read
if you are looking for some great places to stay and get the best
of the fishing action on the Taupo rivers this winter we recommend:
Lodge: On banks of the Waitahanui and providing excellent budget
accommodation. Also home of the famous Windsor Cup fishing competition.

Wonderful fishing cottage for
sale on the Whanganui River
Ever thought of how good
it would be to own your own cottage on the banks of one of New Zealand's
top fishing rivers? Mahoe
Cottage may be the place for you. It is a recently renovated
cottage 150 metres from the Whanganui River (site of the 2008 World
Fly Fishing Championships). And the best news is that it is very
affordable for either a club or a family.
