Flyfish the South

Gore Southland

A true local guide Michael was born and raised and still living in Gore, the Southland town known as the brown trout capital of the world. Much of his fishing knowledge was passed down through the generations, with both his father and grandfather being experienced fishermen. Michael received his first rod for Christmas when he was just 8 years old. With the help of his grandfather he started to tie flies and use a fly rod at the age of 11.
Ever since that first rod, he has been hooked. He has spent many hours fishing the local the rivers within three hours of Gore. The more than 35+ years fishing these waters has resulted in Michael's very considerable knowledge and intimate understanding of the area that few others can offer.
