Turangi Children's Fishing

During the school holidays and on other specified days, children are taught to cast a fly rod and catch a trout at  the Children's Fishing Pond in Turangi, by volunteers of the Tongariro National Trout Centre Society. The fish is weighed and measured and a  certificate is issued. On  some days it is possible to have the fish cleaned and smoked at the centre. A small shop also has the basics required for a lunch where the freshly caught fish can be the main course.

Fishing gear Complete sets of fishing gear are provided. No private or personal gear may be used in the pond to avoid the possibility of introducing disease.

There is a charge to fish at the centre which covers the tuition, use of the equipment and the filleting and cooking of the catch.  See details>>>
