HomeOtagoOtago: Where to fishBlakelys Dam

Blakelys Dam

Blakelys Dam is artificially stocked on a regular basis with brown and rainbow trout, and as there is an abundance of food supply, trout are known to grow to a good size.

Fish type Brown and rainbow trout
Situation Situated close to Ranfurly, Blakelys Dam is an irrigation dam that was constructed to collect water throughout winter for summer use. It is built on private land, and permission to fish is granted unless there is a sign on the gate. As there is no spawning area, the dam is stocked by Fish and Game.
